Uses The Best Playback Solution for Each Platform |
Mpeg Advance Xtra uses the standard MPEG playback solution already installed on your machine to provide MPEG playback without additional installation of system components. The Xtra transparently uses Microsoft´s DirectShow engine on Windows and Apple's Quicktime libraries on the Macintosh to display high-quality, high-performance video minimizing configuration and installation issues, and driver incompatibilities. |

Imaging Lingo and Non Direct to Stage Playback |
Mpeg Advance Xtra is the only product that supports the image of sprite property for compatibility with imaging lingo functions. Non direct-to-stage playback can also be enabled cross-platform, with full support for all Director inks and compositing modes, including quads and skew! |

Cue Points |
Mpeg Advance Xtra supports creation and editing of cue points in Director, limited only by memory or performance constrains. Cuepoints can be created, deleted or modified at runtime for better control of media playback. |

CPU Boost |
Mpeg Advance Xtra can slow down Director on Windows to allow more CPU time for the MPEG decompression process. This can be useful if you are experiencing poor or stuttering playback on lower end machines. |

Compatible with MPEG2 and MPEG4 files |
The base installation of the DirectShow engine does not contain a MPEG2 or MPEG4 decompressor filter on Windows. But third-party decoders that are fully compliant with the DirectShow API can be used with Mpeg Advance Xtra for playback of MPEG2 and MPEG4 streams.
On the Macintosh the Xtra supports playback of MPEG4 files if Quicktime 6 or later is present. MPEG2 playback is also supported with the addition of Apple's MPEG2 playback component. |
