Mpeg Advance Xtra and WebXtra were discontinued today.

We have been selling and supporting our Xtras since 1995, when Director 5 was released. That was the first edition of Director that could be enhanced with Xtras. But a lot has changed in the past 18 years, and Director 12 marks the point where it is no longer feasible to continue supporting and selling our products.

Registered users will continue to receive priority support for 3 months, but no new releases of ours products are planned at this time.

As a gift to the Director community we will be making serial numbers of all our Xtras available for free on our site. Please notice however that these are UNSUPPORTED, use them at your own risk. We will also post versions of Mpeg Advance Xtra and WebXtra that do not display a warning when loaded in Director 12: notice however that these are versions built and certified for Director 11.5 ONLY, and some quirks may occur when using them with later versions of Director.

Working with the Director community has been a privilege, and we wish you all the very best.

In most cases, the most recent hotfix release of Director includes native functionality that makes these products obsolete, specially when used in conjunction with Flash sprites. In the case of Arca there are free database Xtras available that over the years have included most of the features of the product, including encryption.

Registered users will continue to receive priority support for 6 months, but no new releases of these products are planned at this time.

Updates for compatibility with D11.5 are now available for most of our Xtras.

Adobe released Director 11 on March 25th, 2008. This new version includes support for Windows Vista and Macintosh computers with Intel processors, as well as thousands of bug fixes and dozens of new features. Tabuleiro has worked with Adobe for the past 6 months in order to upgrade our products to work with Director 11. New versions of our Xtras are available immediately. The latest releases also include in the downoad package versions certified for operation with Director 8.5.1, MX and MX 2004. A new serial number is needed to use the latest versions of our Xtras. Adobe has just announced that version 11 of Director will be available at the end of March, 2008. This new version will include support for Windows Vista and Macintosh computers with Intel processors, as well as thousands of bug fixes and dozens of new features.

Director 11 is the first major release of Director in more than 4 years, and the first release by Adobe. Several changes were made under the hood. Movies authored in previous versions of Director need to be converted in order to be used with Director 11. As far as Xtras are concerned, the new version uses Unicode strings internally and no longer supports older programming interfaces, so existing Xtras need to be adapted to work correctly with Director 11, Vista and MacOSX Tiger and Leopard.

Tabuleiro has been working with Adobe and pre-release versions of Director 11 in order to upgrade our products to work with Director 11 where technically possible, and we expect to have new versions of most Xtras available immediately after Director 11 is released.
