Upgrading to WebXtra 4.0
WebXtra code was completely rewritten for the release of version 4.0. All dependencies on MFC and standard ActiveX host technologies were removed, in order to make it possible for the Xtra to bypass limitations introduced by these frameworks. As a result of this change, WebXtra 3 movies authored with previous versions of the Xtra need to be modified to work with WebXtra 4, as some properties and functions have changed.
WebXtra 4 will present a warning when the user attempts to open a movie that contains castmembers created with WebXtra 2 or 3. It is possible to continue the operation and update the scripts to work with the new Xtra commands, but after the movie is saved it will no longer be possible to revert back to WebXtra 2 or 3 without loss of some member properties.
In some cases it might be easier to remove all code related to the Xtra and rebuild the functionality using the behaviors supplied with WebXtra 4. The QuickBrowser tutorial available at the TUTORIALS & SAMPLES page shows how to create a working browser from scratch using the new WebXtra behaviors in a couple of minutes.
