Upgrading to Audio Xtra 5.0
Movies authored with versions 3 and 4 of Audio Xtra should generally behave smoothly with version 5.0, and only minor changes are needed:
Registration: Version 5 serial numbers should be entered in axRegister() as a Lingo list and not as a string. Please consult the documentation for more information about the new syntax for this command.
Recording loop : axServiceRecording() is no longer necessary, and can optionally be removed from your movies. Please consult the documentation for more information.
Recording device selection: Audio Xtra 5 will return the inputSourceList for the current inputDevice ONLY. This does not affect existing Windows applications, but it may affect some Macintosh systems, where previously all the input sources from multiple input devices were returned. Please keep in mind that Audio Xtra will automatically list all inputSources from the current preferred input device as reported by the system, so most applications are not affected. Applications that need to provide access to all sound devices and input sources in the system should be adapted to use the new inputDeviceList and inputDevice environment properties. We recommend using the behaviors included in the Audio Xtra sample movie to implement this functionality.
Modifying the movie Xtras list: In version 5 the name of the Audio Xtra file for Windows was changed from resaudio.x32 to AudioXtra.x32. If your movie was authored with AudioXtra 4, the Director Xtras list (Modify > Movie > Xtras) may still list resaudio.x32 on Windows. If you click Add, AudioXtra will not appear in the list of available Xtras. You have to remove resaudio.x32 from the list first, then AudioXtra will appear in the Add list, and you can add it to the movie. (thanks to Slava Paperno for reporting this quirk)
